Build Teams
Build groups include:
Build/Frame - In charge of building the frame of the robot, which supports all other components.
Drivetrain - Decides on gear ratio, type of motors, shifting abilities, etc and creates the mechanisms which give the robot mobility.
Electronics - Powers the electrical components of the robot, including the control board, radio, motors, speed controllers, etc.
Pneumatics - Controls the functions of the robot through the controlled use of pressurized air.
Programming - Programs the code that controls functions of the robot, including autonomous mode.
Design/CAD - Uses Computer Aided Design software (Autodesk Inventor) to create an accurate computer model of the robot before it is built.
Field/Game - Builds a full-scale model of the game field for testing.
Web/PR - Maintains the website, video blog, and other media
Competitions are held at the regional and national levels. In 2005, there were 30 regional events in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Israel with over 900 teams competing. The 2005 finals were held in Atlanta, Georgia with over 7,000 students competing together. The groups that attended this Championship event were first place winners from regional competitions.
