The Code Red "Perspectus" #2

As the Build Season progresses, tensions begin to build as deadlines have to be met. This week, the Code Red Frame Team has gotten a lot done. We have been able to create the lower frame of the robot, both, in CAD and with real parts. The team is continuing to have a good time and we are all learning a lot. At the end of last week, Code Red also decided on the kicker mechanism for our robot. The kicker is best put as. . . "The Tongues Of Death". If that doesn't explain it, I don't know what will!! The kicker was built and designed by Dylan, Zev and Simon and chosen by the team, last Thursday. There are 4 pieces of 1/4 inch aluminum that are attached to a rotating piece of extrusion that spins at ~ 1200 RPM. The spinner when set at different speeds can get the soccer ball as little as 1-5 feet for scoring or 25-30 feet to be able to help our alliance members get balls into scoring position during the game. With luck the spinner will be one of the greatest parts of the entire robot. Overall the weeks are feeling longer but become more fun every day. It is great being able to be a part of the team and watch the robot come into existence.
