The Code Red "Perspectus" #4

The Code Red “Perspectus”

Hello everyone!

The last week has been a very busy one for all. We are now under 3 weeks until shipping date, and working harder to get it finished in the scheduled time.  We have had a few problems this last week but, also many successes. The body of the robot is coming together and currently has half of its treads, rollers and body together. The frame has also been welded. Every day the frame team gradually progresses to get farther and although it is slow, it is effective too. The kicker mechanism has been prototyped a second time and now works better than I could have ever hoped. Weights have been added to allow it to spin more freely, smoother and with less power (it was way too powerful at first) which now works really well. Although at its current stage it works great, I think we are still aiming for too much with the kicker –we are planning to add a mechanism to allow the entire kicker to move forward and backwards for preventing accidental ball hitting and leaving room for ‘free spin’ – and all this make me feel like we might have problems in the future. We are already almost at our 120 pound limit, and have no hanging mechanism added, or weighed yet. That said, if we continue working as a team as we have, we will have an amazing robot, and an amazing kicker!

This last week the robot frame was also welded. This marks us getting to an important point in which the robot is coming together! With so little time left this is really great! The programming team has also finished programming the basic components of the robot. Although the autonomous mode still needs to be programmed, the team has gotten very far!

I would also like to say thank you to all of the mentors, adults, and everyone else who has been helping out! Thank you so much.

Have a great week,
